HELP!

January 25th, 2014
Hi

I have been playing in lightroom 5, still very new to it. I was playing with the below picture and have a question. The rough process is included in the description of the photo. What i want to know is

1. What are the bright fringes around the building on the far right and around the masts of the boat (it is more obvious in lightroom than on 365, now i have had a closer look)

2. How do i fix it?

thanks in advance

Most likely chromatic aberration. On the right side of the Develop module, down the side you'll see "Lens Corrections." Open that menu and you have three choices: "Profile" "Color" and "Manual". Pick "Color" and mark the box titled "Remove Chromatic Aberration". If that doesn't do the trick, click on the little eyedropper (it will become your cursor) and move it over to the offending glow. After some due diligence you may be able to remove it that way, but you may have to play with it a bit. ... sounds like what it might be anyway... good luck :)

If you put clarity in an image it will give you that effect.

Joe
As Brendan mentioned clarity will do it, as will boosting contrast

I think you have reached the limit of the software and gone beyond. Any very aggressive processing often results in these kind of halos around an image. I like the image, and I love Liverpool. Less is often more where PP is concerned- but unless you play around with it you don't know how far you can push it.
