I was just wondering what is your experience of editing and posting your photos while you are on a trip? I usually use iPhoto on my MacBook, and recently started to use Affinity Photo, but with a couple trips coming up I doubt I want to carry my laptop to all the places I will be visiting. At the same time, I don't want to wait a month to edit and post.
So - do you usually bring your laptop? Or do you edit photos on something like iPad, and if so, which apps do you use? I would be happy to hear any pointers or suggestions that could work and at the same time lower the luggage amount.
I'm never happy w editing on my phone or iPad... So either I'm bringing my laptop, or I wait until I get home... But I know lots of folks get great results w various iPad editing apps, so I'm sure you'll get some great feedback on this question...
Snapseed used to be the "go to" app on my phone - it was amazing and you could do so much with it; however, Google bought it out and their version of it is nowhere near what it used to be. VERY disappointing to probably 95% of the users - not sure why they took certain things out. In any event, I agree with @soboy5, Aviary is a pretty good editor. Tadaa is another one that I've had some success with. Just not as good as Snapseed was, unfortunately.
I used mostly my IPad now cause it's light, comfy & fast- there's so many cool free editing apps out there like Photoshop express, Pixlr, Snapseed,Picsart,Aviary etc, etc.- just go to iTunes and search their photo apps--I combined one app w/ another app-sometimes I even edit and mix -up to 4 apps- well,my pictures are not intended for gallery/museum exhibits nor for sale anyway- so am personally happy with the fun results-):) @vera365
I always bring my laptop. I am never happy with phone or tablet apps, they just don't do enough of the fundamental stuff, at least for me. If you do want to search for an app, Photoshop Express is OK. At least it does use some of the technology of Lightroom/Photoshop.
My concern would be that you have a month full of photos just sitting on a card that could get lost or corrupted. If you bring your laptop, at least you have a second location.
Thank you so much everyone! I see the pros and cons of both options, but I will be partially traveling alone with the kids, also to some remote places, and am just dreading carrying a lot of luggage while watching the two at the same time. Thank you so much for your input, lots of app exploring in the coming days for me. @northy@soboy5@not_left_handed@joemuli@frankhymus@danette
Not sure if your using Adobe Lightroom, but if you subscribe to their latest version of Lightroom & Photoshop CC it also includes a an Ap that can be used on iPhone and iPad. I haven't used it myself, so can't really comment on it's ease of use. @vera365
Just wanted to thank you again for all your suggestions! I ended up not bringin my laptop and mainly using Snapseed and Aviary on iPad. Not having been familiar with Snapseed before it was bouhght by Google, I am pretty happy with both for my purposes. Not much editing to do here on Crete anyway as everything is so vibrant and stunningly beautiful :) Thank you all for your support!
I use a Dell Inspiron 2 in 1 and Adobe Lightroom. Lightroom was intimidating and seemed not to work for me until I took Kim Klassen's Intro to Light room course. It is free and only takes an hour a day for a week. Love this program and Kim is a great teacher. Here is the link: href=http://learn.kimklassen.com/course/leap-into-lightroom/
I use ACDSee Pro9 For my editing witch seems to work well for me after falling out with my previous software the would not support my cameras. Normally editing is done on a laptop fixed to a monitor in the office. The Problem i have found with my laptop is that the gamma changes with tilt of the laptop screen making changes to the picture interesting if you move a little.
I have a windows PC with me usually. I enjoy take photos along my journey. I usually make seldom changes to photos before I upload them, e.g. using batch exif editor to add some author info and delete some GPS info. I really enjoy the true nature and hope my photos show them in nature way.
Sounds like you're planning a great trip!
