I am new @ Photography and need advice on how I can get the most from my battery while it needs to be used often as a walk thru the city? I have a Sony @230 so it doesn't use rechargable batteries.
Doesn't use rechargeable batteries? Really? Do does have live view (LCD viewing)? If you have that turned on, it may drain your battery. I would imagine that keeping your cap on while you are just walking will help keep the battery use down as well (light meter wont be constantly calculating?). Hmmmm.....
Do you mean that it uses Alkaline AA's or a Lithium Ion battery pack?
I have an A390 myself, it's usually quick enough on start up for me to not worry about leaving it on in case I miss a shot. But as @crappysailor said, use the viewfinder instead of the LCD, and keep the cap on when not in use. Oh, also, when it IS in use, take the cap off BEFORE turning it on, otherwise it sometimes tries to focus against it and there's a lot of motor whirr
@ LisLee yes that is the battery it uses. I do know that I was told also not to cut the camera off/on that this will also run the battery down quicker. Thanks for the advice!
I too have a Sony and one of the best purchases I made was a spare battery. You can pick them up pretty cheap on ebay. Otherwie as said above, turn of your live view and only use the viewfinder and avoid reviewing your shots on the LCD screen.
@iview do you mean turn off your live view? Actually I am just looked a review on it an and that model doesn't have live view, so you dont need to turn it off. Do you have to look through the viewfinder to take all your shots?
