At the top of this photo on the left is the Old Stone Store (the oldest stone building in New Zealand built 1832), on the right is Kemp House, the oldest building in New Zealand (built around 1820). Behind Kemp House you can just make out a church. This is St James Church built in 1829. At one point my great grandmother held the lease on the Old Stone Store, while my grandfather sailed a yacht delivering supplies to various places in the Bay of Islands. My grandparents were married in St James Church around 1911.
Hubby and I had lunch in a cafe just to the right of Kemp House on Monday.
