This young shag was sunning itself on a rock at the edge of Lake Wakatipu. I hoped to capture it flying, but even though I got with 1 metre of it, it stubbornly refused to fly away!
Great shot. I have sometimes waited for as long as an hour for eagles to fly from their perch. Is a shag also known as a comorant? In Chile, they called blue eyed comorants, blue eyed shag.
