Tane Mahuta by dkbarnett

Tane Mahuta

Tane Mahuta is the largest known living kauri tree in the world - probably around 2000 years old. It lives in the Waipoua forest in Northland. It has a girth of approximately 14 metres. It is probably more impressive in real life than in the photo!
I still recognised it before I saw the title. We have a kauri near us which is estimated to be over 1000 years old. Don't know its girth though

@yorkshirekiwi I love the kauri trees - so straight and stately.
@moonmtn Thanks Kahsia - it was a bit difficult to get being surrounded by bush - and tourists! This was the best of all the ones I took - we weren't allowed to get too close so was standing against the fence and leaning over as far as I could!!
@fbailey Sure is!
@dawnee He is majestic!
