Things have been more active since the rainy season began.
Normally the ducks get along, except they get 'Catty' while eating. They'll nip at tail feathers or chase each other a few feet away if they think the other duck is trying to muscle in on their food.
The mama duck is more agressive about eating than the other ducks because she has to make sure her ducklings get enough to eat. She'll often chase away any duck that gets within 6ft of her ducklings when they're eating.
I guess this guy just didn't want to be chased off, and the mama duck simply will NOT back down... So she chose to employ a more vigorous negotiation strategy ;-)
