I spotted this scene in my hometown on 26 December. It was like turning the clock 50 years back: the car (the very same my parents used for their honeymoon in 1965), the photo booth, the mail box, even the graffiti... how much future has already gone.
VML this and when I ask myself why...it's because it cocks a snoop at the culture that dictates, more expensive, bigger and brasher is better. Whilst not wanting to deny that progress is inevitable, the cost in human terms can be destructive when there are insufficient checks and balances.
@s4sayer I couldn't agree more! With an identical humble FIAT 850 my parents traveled in September 1965 from Cosenza (Calabria, Italy) to Valencia (Andalucia, Spain), driving through Côte d'Azur, France and Catalunya, Spain... I don't know a couple of fresh married youngsters that would ever repeat such an enterprise... at least without air conditioning!
@domenicododaro Love this - like a movie set from the fifties.
On the discussion about more expensive, bigger, better etc I always throw in the term "enough".
Try telling somebody that you think you have all the material stuff you ever wanted/wished for and watch them. It's quite interesting to watch them trying to argue that you have not ... or at least that you can have something better/newer: And them you throw in "well I think I have enough", more often than not it has spurred some really great conversation :-)
@domenicododaro@runner365@s4sayer Happily I have Mrs S to stop me from falling over the edge by hanging on to the back of my trousers! Great spot Domenico!
Bam!!! Wow your processing is so spot on, do u mind if I ask what editing software you use? Self taught? This image feels like the opening scene of a movie, it feels like the music is about to start and a fantastic, possibly gritty drama is about to unfold, love it
@rachelwithey And I almost did not correct them (I admit, only the graffiti was a tad greener...) @s4sayer Thanks to you! @vignouse hahaha, thank you! @dkay Really appreciate the fav. Thank you! @overalvandaan thanks, Saxa: the fun is that sometimes the off the beaten road is right there, on the beaten road... @scotthouston Wasn't it for the lack of gullwing doors... lol! @taffy Thank you very much! @linjoyce Thank you indeed, really appreciated! @mrsc19 I'm flattered! Yes, I'm self taught with processing: I use Photoshop CC and the Google Nik Collection. Thank you for your kind words! @jclaireyp Thanks, Claire! @blueberry1222 hahahaha, I can't figure a Fiat 850 on the streets of Havana...
