The Patriarch by domenicododaro

The Patriarch

Finally made it to the place where this majestic wild olive tree lives. With a circumference of about 18m and an estimate life of 3 to 4,000 years, he is considered one of the most ancient living trees in Europe. To get it into my 35mm lens, I had to collage 8 photos. The vintage edit is a tribute to this veteran on Earth.
very powerful, I'm in awe of this olive tree!

Nature is a an enormous gift. We limp in its wake and think we know everything. How insignificant Man is by comparison. TYF the reminder.

Collage 8 photos? I can see you dedication and respect. I like the result a lot. The tree looks heavily burdened with wild olives.

I thought it was Sardinia! - I saw a similar one near Villamassargia in the south of the island a few years ago & was touched by the age
August 16th, 2018
@ltodd I think this island is home to the oldest witnesses of the past. How cool you were in South Sardinia, did you spent holidays there?
August 16th, 2018
yes, I loved it totally, it was a very 'real' place & I loved the people for being so open & welcoming
August 16th, 2018
@ltodd true. My experience is that You need to earn their trust, and friendship, but then it’s for life!
August 16th, 2018
Wow...that tree has seen it all! Amazing it still lives on...Is the tree on someone's property or open land?
August 17th, 2018
@gardenfolk It's on a state owned plot, you pay a little fee to get near to them.
