Rockpile Trail Waterfall

Day 174 of 365: Rockpile Trail Waterfall

2015 June 23: This is a closer look at the main waterfall on TVA's Rockpile Trail that winds along the Tennessee River near Wilson Dam.

Since the entire area is experiencing a heat wave this week, at the time of this photo this scene is very hot but wonderfully beautiful with lush greenery. The vibrant movement of the falling water spilling into the river is an awesome reminder of the Tennessee River's nickname of "Singing River."

Although on days like this it is hard to imagine, during harsh winters this waterfall actually freezes solid!
Nice capture. I can imagine the wonderful sound it makes.

Wish I was standing under this water falls right now!!! We had our heat "warning" today with heat index from 105 to 109 F!!! Too hot to do anything anywhere, even in your own home with the AC on!! Stay as cool as you can and stay safe in this weather!! FAV! I love water falls even if it weren't this hot!
