Winter's Shelter

Day 289 of 365: Winter's Shelter

2015 October 17: Our weather forecast called for our first frost of the season this weekend -- so I spent several days preparing our container plants to be moved to their winter home in our garage.

Each October we move our container plants to a table inside our garage. We have hung a couple of shop lights from the top of the table, and framed the table with pvc pipe -- which we use to enclose our makeshift "greenhouse" with heavy clear plastic. For the front, we hang clear shower-curtain liners ...We can easily open and close these as needed.

This makes a nice mini-greenhouse for the winter months; hopefully our plants will thrive there this year as they did last winter.
Good luck with your plants.

What a smart set-up! Has me thinking I should look into a small greenhouse type set up for my small collection. I don't have a garage though. This will take some thinking! Right now, I just bring them inside, but I hate loosing the space.

Very clever idea.

@olivetreeann You are fortunate to have some space inside your home, Ann! I don't have any extra space in a spot where it would be OK if the plants got the floor wet ...The last time that I tried bringing them in, my son over-watered and made a terrible mess of the floor! At least in the garage he can water all he wants :)
