Hearing that our favorite local orchard had begun selling Arkansas Black Twig Apples this week, we made the 30-minute dash there today to buy a half-bushel of them. We had especially been waiting for this variety to ripen, as we have been told that this type of apple will last until next summer if we place it in the refrigerator!
Once we arrived, the cashier gave us samples of some of their other apples ...so we ended up buying not only the Arkansas Black Twig apples, but also some Gold Rush apples and some Pink Lady apples. In all, we ended up buying a bushel of apples -- which was a good bit more than I had intended ...but at least all of the varieties that we bought will stay fresh for several months.
What a lovely stall. I'm a big fan of Pink Lady apples (I'm pretty sure they were developed in my home state). I've never heard of the other varieties you mentioned :)
