Although I have enjoyed gardening for decades, I have never grown carrots before this year. I was inspired by an article that I read this past summer, stating that carrots grown in cold weather are sweeter than those grown during the hot months ...so I decided that it might be worth a try.
This past weekend we harvested a few of our larger carrots; a couple of these ended up being over 3 inches in diameter! As the article had stated, they were extra sweet and tasty ...and so large that it only took one of them to fill my pot roast!
That's a pretty impressive display of home grown carrots. Well done and well captured.
I didn't know that about the connection between sweetness and cold weather.
