Magnolia Seed-pods

2016.02.18 Thursday: The sunlight was brilliant this afternoon, making a wonderful contrast as it shone through the dappled shade onto our pile of Magnolia seed-pods. I enjoyed seeing the textures and tones that it created.
Nice capture!

There is a deep contrast here with these seed pods - did you cut them off? Should you cut them off?

@maggiemae The magnolia seed-pods just fall off on their own every autumn; we've never cut them off. Since several types of birds like their seeds, we just pile them up underneath our magnolia trees all winter, and then bag them up in late spring when all the seeds are eaten out of them.

This would look great in black and white too. I like the strong lighting. Good shot!
