2016.04.09 Saturday: Although we are slowly but surely turning our 60'x80' garden into a series of raised beds, the people from whom we bought this house had always done traditional row gardening in the ground. Each spring in the past, they asked a local farmer to come plow the garden before they planted; each spring he dug up a pile of huge rocks from the ground ...and these heavy rocks still stand in a pile at the edge of our garden even though we have lived here for 16 years.
In this photo, it is hard to tell the scale of these rocks, but some of the rocks in this pile had to be pulled from the ground with a tractor and a heavy chain ...There are still some huge rocks left in our garden that were impossible to budge even with heavy equipment!
Even though the rocks can be a nuisance, they do have very nice textures and tones in them.
