2016.12.14 Wednesday: Our Christmas tree each year is decorated with ornaments that have special memories for our family; many of them are now decades old, but each is still treasured. We have ornaments that our sons made in elementary school, ornaments that Scott and I gave each other when we were first married, ornaments that we bought while on vacations through the years, ornaments that relatives and friends gave us through several decades, and toys that our sons played with when they were young.
Some of our most treasured ornaments are the beaded ones that Scott's mother made for us back in the 1980's. She painstakingly used beads, sequins, and straight pins to spell out each family member's name ...making one for each of us and one for her own Christmas tree. It was quite a labor of love!
Scott's mother is no longer with us, but each year when we put her handmade ornaments on our tree, we still feel close to her and treasure the memory of those past Christmases.
Something like this is such a family treasure. I have some angels that came from my mother and from my grandmother. It keeps them a part of Christmas. Beautiful tree!
