2017.04.17 Monday: Our Encore azaleas are in beautifully full bloom now, turning their corner of our yard a vibrant pink.
Encores are my favorite variety of azaleas because they bloom in spring, late summer, and autumn (regular azaleas bloom only for a couple of weeks in spring in my area). They also tolerate more sun than most azaleas, so I was able to plant them in a western exposure.
This one is different from the others that I planted several years ago, in that it has two colors of flowers on the same bush. I assume from that this bush must be grafted ...however, its mass of blooms is quite beautiful in both colors!
