2018.02.17 Saturday: This year's Great Backyard Bird Count is February 16-19, 2018. So far at the end of Day 1, they have had 23,687 checklists submitted from across the world, 3998 species observed, and 3,119,180 total individual birds counted ...a nice start for this wonderful 4-day annual event!
We did not have good weather for the count in my area (All weekend is forecast to be rainy, windy, and cold), but I managed to get out between rains to go to my favorite "hotspots." As waterfowl migration is well underway in my area, I was able to observe a quite nice variety of species -- and I especially enjoyed seeing this beautiful pair of Canada geese at Adtran.
