2018.02.22 Thursday: As we were leaving for our afternoon walk today, Scott and Matthew both stopped in their tracks and pointed to a large bird perched on the utility lines ...It was this beautiful Cooper's Hawk.
I ran back inside and grabbed my camera, and then cautiously approached the hawk and started snapping pics. He let me take a few, and then (as soon as I turned my back) swooped just overhead to let me know that he was done posing.
I followed him to make certain that he kept on flying and didn't stop at my backyard feeders; it was a relief when he flew far down into our neighborhood and left my treasured backyard birds alone!
Wow, they are quite a sight to see. Great capture! We see them now and then, but the sharp-shinned hawks make more frequent visits. Birds of prey sightings are always a treat!
