Wendover woods by dulciknit

Wendover woods

I spent a happy hour and a half up in Wendover woods today and came back with nearly a complete load of rubbish :-P This shot was one of the few survivors!
The woods clad the top and sides of the section of the Chiltern Hills nearest us. The trees are beech and conifers. When we first came to live here there was a V and an I planted with conifers in the middle of an area of beeches. It was done in honour of George 6th's coronation. The area was replanted some years ago in order to get rid of the numerals.
The beeches on the Chilterns were used for making furniture, especially chairs, and High Wycombe (about 15 miles away from us) is still well known for its furniture manufacturers.
This is a lovely shot. I like the DOF. Well done :)

I know those days, where nothing you do with your camera seems to turn out well. This is a beautiful shot though. I love the texture and DOF. And the English countryside!

A nice composition. The tree with the Autumn colours give the picture perspective.

I keep meaning to get over to Wendover woods. It is supposed to be pretty at this time of the year. I just don't seem to get the time at the moment. My son plays rugby away games at Tring a couple of times a year. So perhaps I could drop him off and pop over there...
BTW, you should get over to the museum at High Wycombe. It is not very extensive but it shows our furniture history well. I had a photo exhibited there a couple of years ago. HW is an interesting 'gap town' and its market goes back centuries. Its not that interesting today as a market, but the town centre is quite nice to photograph at busy times.
