I think that's all we should ask of anyone, especially our children. No one can do any more than their best, even if it's not enough to win a contest/pass an exam.
Anyway, this was the best I could do today because my back is still unhappy. It's my fault my back is unhappy because I overdid it.
On a happier note, today is our son's 29th birthday and he's spending it with us. Lester's cooking tuna curry for tea, a favourite of Gareth's, then we'll all have tacky-goo choccy cake. Yummm!

Tastes even better! @cmuir1963 Thank you, Cindy :-) Many happy returns to your son also. @zanettie Cheers, Nettie , much appreciated. :-) @chamal Thank you, Charles, I appreciate your kindness.
is that pussy willow? it looks lovely with the sun shining on it......you're doing the right thing by looking on the bright side too. And happy birthday to your son -- relish the last year of being 20 something!
@tooki thank you, Tooki. :-) It's a Star Magnolia. Those are its flower buds. I guess it wraps them up warm for winter, because they're on the bush by the end of November. They have a double wrap of 'fur' but even then the flowers will fail in March if there have been lots of heavy frosts.
This is lovely. I love these signs of spring to brighten up cold dull days. Little and often and not too much of anything is what your back needs! Hope it improves.
A belated "Happy Birthday" to Gareth. I know what you mean about just asking one's children to do their best. I keep finding that people ask me what Janet is doing, then are unenthusiastic about the different direction that her life has taken, as if it was their business anyway! What is important is satisfaction and a sense of acheivement in what one is doing.
