Lester and I didn't go anywhere much today, just to a garden centre. We stopped at the church in the village of Kingsey so that I could take some photos. I wasn't too happy with my efforts and was walking out of the church yard when I spotted this cluster of caterpillars on a tree. This isn't all of them, there's a shot here that shows the extent of the cluster : http://365project.org/dulciknit/on-the-day-extr/2012-08-23
I've never seen so many caterpillars all huddled together like this before today. Amazing sight!
I did a little Googling and discovered that these are the caterpillars of the Buff Tip moth.

What an amazing find! I once snapped a tent caterpillar in the neighborhood and hoped to see them come out one day, but never did. Terrific photo! Thanks for checking on the species. I would have never known.
