Thank you to Lester for his technical help in putting the shots together.
Indian Ring Necked Parakeets are not indigenous to the UK (the name's a bit of a giveaway :-D ) but escapees from various bird gardens and private homes where they were kept as pets, have colonised areas of Outer London and Surrey so successfully that some people are beginning to regard them as a nuisance.
I've seen them a few times when Lester and I have been to places like Kew gardens but they're very fast flyers, well camouflaged - despite the red beak - once they get into a tree, and difficult to get a photo of as a result. This one decided it wanted to be seen and spent quite a while posing while I happily snapped away.
Taken in the grounds of Ham House.

I have never seen a parakeet out in the open. How fascinating that he was so eager to pose for you. This was so cleverly put together and I think that you, Lester and the cheeky parakeet deserve a fav!
Very cute collage. I grew up in Costa Rica where there are plenty of parakeets, and I really like them. Something very interesting I can share is that they have an amazing sense to earthquakes, and I knew when there was one because the parakeets of a nearby park started flying and making lots of noise... (I don't know how you were able to live without that information... LOL)
Great collage of shots! Timing is everything. We are too cold for parakeets to live here but they have colonized parts of Florida and San Francisco, CA, to the point that they are a nuisance!
