Misty, frosty, and a sprinkling of snow

Please take a look on large view if you have a moment. Thank you.

Written Friday.
I don't know why the hill's stepped like that - I shouldn't think it's the remains of a hill fort (although there are some in Buckinghamshire) but it always makes me think of one.

We woke up to bitter cold on Thursday morning - the central heating boiler had broken down! British Gas sent out a very helpful, friendly and efficient man to fix it but even he couldn't do much because spares were needed. Fortunately he was able to call back with them today and the house is warm once more. We were very glad that he could come back ; it snowed all day today. Also fortunately, the little radiator from Lester's workshop is very efficient and we were able to keep warm in the mean time.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and stays safe, whatever the weather. xx

So glad to hear you now have heat. This scene makes me shiver but is so very lovely. Keep warm, Alison. Cuddle up!

Nice composition Alison and I'm glad you've goit your heating sorted out. It always seems to break down at the wrong time doesn't it?

@cimes1 Thank you, Carole. Lester has gone out for a walk! The house is nice and warm now, thank goodness.

@rosiekind Thank you, Rosie. Yes, they do, don't they? We were lucky we had some auxilliary heating. Glad of the wall insulation we had put in earlier in the year too!

So glad that was a fairly quick repair - what timing! This definitely looks COLD. Lovely composition, Alison, with that touch of snow and the fog. The muted colors are definitely wintertime.

So cold-looking and how awful to have the heating break down at such a very wrong time! I wonder if that 'stepped' bit was a former road or pathway up the hill - just trying to think of possibilities.

@milaniet Thank you, Milanie :-)

@girlie Good point - maybe old droving tracks? There's sheep farming round here and sheep on there part of the year.
January 18th, 2013
@dulciknit That's a very likely suggestion; they would be driving the sheep around the less steep part of the hill, I imagine.

Brrrrrr..... beautiful scene though! Sympathies with the heating, it always seems to happen in the coldest of weathers!
January 18th, 2013
@girlie Sounds like the real answer, then. I might just go on pretending it's an old hill fort, though. :-D

@jackie8 Thank you, Jackie. Doesn't it just? Still, we're all warm again now and very thankful that it was so easily fixed.

What a time for it to happen! Glad its fixed without too much of a wait. Lovely wintery scene. I'd guess a hill fort myself.

Fab scene, love the path and gate leading up the hill. Lovely misty trees at back . The frosty grass and leaves at the front are a nice leader

A lovely scene. I like how the path takes the eye up the hill. A chilly walk. Keep warm.
