Tea-leafing* litterbug

A waiter, Lester and I watched with amusement as this jackdaw landed on one of the outside tables at the Savill Garden cafe, stole an unused carton of spread and proceeded to open it in order to enjoy the contents.
*From the Cockney rhyming slang for 'thief'

Many thanks for all the great feedback on my posts. It's always very much appreciated.
Hope everyone's having a great weekend.
Ha ha! Lovely capture! Did he manage to get to the contents?

Birds do need fat. At least he's gone for the healthy option and is having low-fat Flora.

Big greedy birds, but an amusing photo and well done to get him so sharp and have the camera in the right place at the right time!

@pflaume Thanks, Lisa. Yes, the jackdaw's one of the crow family, along with rooks and ravens. Do you have those?
May 5th, 2013
@dulciknit We have crows and less commonly ravens. I'm thinking what you call a rook is most likely a crow for us?
May 6th, 2013
@pflaume We have crows and rooks. I found this that shows the differences between those and the ravens and jackdaws : http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/natureuk/2011/10/autumnwatch-unsprung-round-up.shtml
There's a nice little montage of nature shots at the head of the page as well.
