Gluteus Maximus' chariot driving test did not go well. The examiner refused to issue him a pass certificate, citing driving at excessive speeds and failure to use the brakes.
Better on large view if you don't mind going a bit cross-eyed. :-)
On June 22nd the annual Pilgrimage procession will be taking place in St. Albans, going from St.Peter's church at one end of the town centre to the cathedral at the other end. Life size figures, referred to as puppets, are used in the procession, including this one of a Roman charioteer, his horse and chariot. About a month before the procession takes place the puppets are brought down from the cathedral loft where they are stored, checked and repaired if necessary and left on display in the cathedral between practice sessions.
The position in which this puppet had been left appealed to my warped sense of humour.
