.. in Rochester cathedral. Better on large view for the detail if you have a moment.
When I was at primary school (so I'm going back at least 50 years here) I was in the class that was picked to represent our school at a Christmas carol service in Rochester Cathedral. I don't remember anything else about it except sitting and gazing in total wonder at these organ pipes. It's hardly surprising the memory's stayed with me over the years, the decoration on them is amazing.
Critique welcome. Veteran 365er, 2011 vintage. Only posting occasionally and irregularly now.
I'm an abstract photography enthusiast but not exclusively so.

Oh my goodness, you must have sat there with your mouth wide open in awe. What an awesome sight. The detail you picked up in your photo is fantastic, especially when enlarged. I can't imagine the size of those pipes and that cathedral ceiling. What a beautiful photo, Alison.
This is so amazing. We went to a performance tonight by the Childrends Educational Theater...the final performance that our grandson has been involved with all summer. The performance was at the Historic Elsinore Theater in our town. We used to watch movies there. It is a quite a Gothic Style with very similar decor as your cathedral. I will be post at least one photo of it tomorrow. I can imagine myself looking at that organ for hours as well. It would be overwhelming! So beautiful. Does it still play?
@dulciknit I used to play classical music ..... but went on to do more latin american which doesn't work well on a pipe organ! lol
Don't play much now but still have a synth. I love pipe organs though and have been lucky enough to play a couple of beauties :)
@willowdragon Classical? Oh, complex stuff!
Erm, latin american... pipe organ - see what you mean, lol ! but they are lovely.
I love hearing about what people do musically as well as photographically, thank you.
@dulciknit lol .... very complex when you have to "hear" the music in your head as there is a time delay between playing and the sound coming out.
It is interesting to hear what people do in addition to photography. :)
Wonderful perspective. I like converging verticals in this sort of scene. I feel that especially in this type of perspective it makes things look really grand. But lots of people don't like them. funny how we all see things differently.
:)
