A penny (tin) whistle player busking in Winchester. The tin whistle is often associated with Irish traditional music and that's what this gentleman was playing. He was very good too.
I would have liked to get a little motion blur on his fingers but didn't think about it at the time. Such is the flusteredness of the newbie candid portrait camera person. Next time.... :-)

That's a great candid Alison! Did you ask if you could take his photo or just go ahead? I feel really self conscious about asking but know that I should!
@jackie8 Thanky you, Jackie. I asked him if he was OK with it. Still got nerves, as you will see from the amended caption, but I don't feel so uncomfortable about asking buskers because they're giving a public performance.
I love this Alison and completely understand how you feel about asking to take the shot and then feeling abit self conscious. I still haven't plucked up the courage to ask a busker, and have kicked myself on several occasions when I've missed the opportunity. Well done you!
Fab shot it just oozes character ! I find buskers easy to ask ..like you say theyre asking to be looked at and its easy to say thanks by throwing a few coibs into their hat !
Great portrait. You have caught expression in his eyes, he is looking right at you. I think you have some feel of his fingers moving there in his right hand his fingers are uplifted ready to move.
