Through the doorway

Taken in Wells cathedral while we were away the week before last. I think it's better against the black background on large view if you have a moment.

As with all old buildings, it doesn't have many lines that go up and down uniformly, so I've done the best I can with straightening the shot.

Really interesting with the window and the curve to the stairs - definitely draws your eye up the stairs to wonder where it leads to. Quite an unusual old door, too. The texture shows up quite nicely.

@claireuk Goodness, Claire, so sorry I've taken an age to get back to you! They allow photographs providing you pay 3GBP for a permit and abide by the restrictions.
Durham doesn't allow photos under any circumstances? What a shame for the tourists and the cathedral ; they could generate more income towards the upkeep by charging for permits.

Like it. This is a great example of bringing out "mystery" in a shot. I just want to know what is around the corner and up there.
