This is the River Thames at Laleham in (the county of) Surrey. The bridge on the left of the shot spans a weir.The posts and ropes are to prevent boats being dragged towards the weir by the current created as the water flows over it.
Another reflection shot , I know, but I liked the subtle reflections of the ropes.

These lovely shots are so calming. When I think of the Thames I usually think of London and forget there are some beautiful parts further along the river.

Always strange to see the clam just before a weir, that belies the currents.
