The old lighthouse by dulciknit

The old lighthouse

This lighthouse at Dungeness has been out of commission since 1960 but it's still open to visitors from time to time during the year. It's a Grade II listed building. It's recently been re-painted.

The building immediately below it is circular, with a large, conical skylight. I tried to get a more detailed shot of it but it wasn't possible.

A lovely shot. Can you climb up to the light? I was born in Kent so this area was visited quite often.

So dramatic. I wonder why it is black? Or would it tell me if I followed the link?

I thought lighthouses were usually white. Very unusual, perhaps it's because it's no longer used.

The black really makes it stand out in this shot, but can't imagine it would be easy to see in the dark! (of course, except for the light in it!)

Not my first choice of colour if I lived in a lighthouse (and I would so love to live in a lighthouse).
