A bit of a monkey puzzle

This is part of one of the Monkey Puzzle (Araucaria araucana) trees in Kew gardens.
Monkey Puzzles were much loved by the Victorians . You still see them in people's gardens occasionally, although they're not really suited to the ordinary garden because they can reach 50 to 60 feet over time!

Another picture from today's trip to Kew can be found here: http://365project.org/dulciknit/365/2012-05-24
