we spent the day driving around in custer state park in search of the buffalo herds roaming freely.
NO buffalo.
they had rounded them up earlier in the week and were keeping them corralled in wind cave national park until the annual "buffalo round-up" in a couple of weeks.
and that is where we found them.
camping south dakota...day 7.
from the book confessions of a traveling gypsee...
He looks magnificent with those clouds in the background. I've been meaning to get up to the Black Hills, but haven't put in the road time. Have you been over to Sylvan Lake? Most beautiful with the rock outcroppings in the lake, particularly when shot in black and white. Do you venture into Nebraska? I've been wanting to do a sunrise at Toad Stool, but I hate mornings. Ft. Robinson has camping and bison, if you are heading south. Also ... there's a pow wow in Alliance, NE next weekend, September 24-25. Wherever you are headed ... safe travels. I'm enjoying your view of South Dakota.
