Every year we have a toy lunch at our restaurant. You bring a new unwrapped toy and we give you a free lunch. Our staff donate their time AND their tips, we supply the food, you bring a toy. This was about an hour before it ended and we had about 700.00 in donations. Some people come for lunch without knowing about it and they are given the option of donating whatever amount they want rather than paying for lunch. Our staff went shopping when they finished work and spent the donations on more stuff. I may need to go back tomorrow and take another photo. Fantastic day. We have amazing customers and staff.
@pennyp@kaesebiscuit They get picked up by the Kinsmen and the Elves Club and distributed to families in need. @jocasta It's interesting. Some people will bring in iPod's or expensive toys and others will bring a deck of cards. They all get a free lunch. I think people do what they can. I love when people who can contribute generously step up and do so and when those who don't have a lot bring in something small that's amazing too. I am not a fan of McDonald's but the local one here brought in about 30 separate toys at the end of the day. It was amazing. I really do need to try and get another photo.
I was going to ask what organization you work with to distribute the toys, but I see it above. That is so great! I think there is really a part in most people that wants to do good and help others. But what's even better about this is the everybody gets something good out of it (whether it's a free meal or a toy) folks like doing things for a good cause.
