My first attempt at getting a crown...critiques appreciated.
I have been wanting to try a water drop shot for a while. I was quite happy with myself for getting a crown. My only issue is that the focus is off. I placed a meat themometer where the drop was falling and focused with auto focus. I then switched to manual focus, but it still isn't perfect. I will try again soon, but I have to go do some yard work now. Any suggestions are appreciated. [SOOC]
That's so cool! I just tried one a couple days ago as well, and I got a pretty cool reflection using a deep, dark colored pan, and taping some dotted wrapping paper up behind it, so that it reflected onto the water...That's just what I learned from the thread that I had started... But I think this is awesome! I love the splash you caught! Takes lots of patience!
@tigervolleyball Thanks Sarah. I will have to try that next time. I wasn't really sure what to catch the water in, so I grabed the first non-white plate that I could find. @kerristephens I didn't use a macro lens or filter. I just used my 28-135 mm on full zoom. I have macro filters, but I was afraid about trying to focus with them. I had a hard enough time getting the focus right without one! Good luck. I can't wait to see your shot.
Ok. so my first thought was 'Nuh uh, she didn't!' This is a great crown, but maybe it's hard to see it because of the rich red background or the lighting. Your second attempt is awesome, too.
