The Three Hour Glucose Test

I took the day off today because I had to go take a three hour glucose screening test to test for gestational diabetes. Every pregnant woman has to take it to ensure that she has not developed diabetes during her pregnancy. The problem is…the test sucks! You have to fast. Then, you go in, they draw your blood, you drink a gross orange flavored sugary drink, and then, you sit there hungry and lightheaded for the next three hours. Once an hour they draw blood again. When I was pregnant with my son, I got clammy and sweaty due to my low blood sugar. This time, I did much better. It also helped that my husband and son came to visit for the last 45 minutes, so they kept me distracted. Now, I just need to wait two days for the results. These are the blood vials.

Good luck! I dread that test! Do you have to do a 1 hour test first? I failed the one hour with both of my pregnancies so I had to do the 3 hour test for both. I thankfully passed, but it's no fun!!
