Four figures waiting for sunrise on Easter Sunday

The Salvation Army's annual sunrise service for Easter Sunday was held at Rhodes Memorial in Cape Town this morning.

For those who are unfamiliar with the scene, the figure on the right is the statue called "Energy" - a man riding a horse. The main freeway lights in the middle of the picture are on the N2 - the main arterial coming from the airport into the city centre. Look closely at the middle of the picture. There are the two cooling towers from the Athlone power station. They will be imploded on 30 May 2010, so this is the last Easter Sunday where they will be visible.

This picture was taken at 6.29am - sunrise was at 7.07am.
gorgeous! I love that you can see the horizon and sunrise colours as well as the electric lights!

I can safely say the chances of me ever being up early enough to see this are nil, so I'm glad you shared this!
