Capturing the capturer by eleanor

Capturing the capturer

... and I know that someone was taking a picture of me, taking a photo of ...

I started off on the Photo-walk at Gordon's Bay this morning; this picture was taken on the harbour wall, just before sunrise.

I learned something about myself in the process. For me, photography is not a team sport. I love the interaction that comes from sharing the finished product, but the process of capture and development is a very introverted activity for me. I guess most of us started 365 to learn more about photography. Along the way I am also learning about myself.
Wonderful observation. Many times, the crowd watching.observing is more fun than the photography.

Your picture tells a good story.

Great! They should do a theme week of taking pics of people taking pics.

I don't think I could ever do one of those photography get-togethers - I feel the same way - the whole process is a very personal one for me and I wouldn't feel comfortable with lots of people around. I think I would also feel a sense of competition.

Wonderful! I'm taking classes and we often take photos of each other taking photos. While I love being by myself and taking pictures, it's so cool to see the outcome of everyone being in the same place at the same time and seeing totally different pictures come out. We all have our own unique way of seeing things through the lens.

Well said! Like you, I am learning about myself and this project has help me greatly in my interaction with others. As I look back at my pictures I can see myself changing.

Wonderful shot!!! I love your caption - you put it so well! I've been learning a lot about myself since I started this project, too. It's amazing on how many levels photography enriches you!

That is very profound! And it's a neat photo to describe your feelings!

This is a great shot! Isn't it great how we're able to learn more about both photography and ourselves through this project? While I may not love a lot of what I've posted for this project, I've stepped so far outside my comfort zone and learned so many things that even my worst photo has been worth it.

Having seen Elizabeth's pictures from the photowalk, it's interesting to see yours, too! I'm with you...I wouldn't want to much to go out taking photos as a part of a large group. I'd rather let my choices evolve through the day...and one might have been, as you did, photographing a photographer!

Great shot! And so true how you learn...

i just came here by chance. i did the photowalk, too, yesterday and while i like to have met other people who are so into photography, like you, i had the "introverted" feeling. it was all subjective. what everyone was trying to capture, i wasn't interested in, to the point that i got left behind exploring the place while everyone moved on and i lost them. i joined the walk at a city outside of where i live (toronto, because they were full) and it was a beautiful place. i'd go back there on my own one of these days, or probably someone who is also interested but not a big group of twenty or more.
