A perfect morning by eleanor

A perfect morning

Half and hour before sunrise at Zeekoevlei. The weather is perfect for the under 16 rowers who start in an 8 for the first time today.
That is so still and peaceful - beautiful time of day to be up and about.

This is so beautiful. So still. And the colour. I'd be more than happy to go rowing when the weather is like this. Terrific.

This is a favorite. So quiet and peaceful. Good luck to your son. Is he in one of the teams or still trying out?

@Mirmax: The school's rowing club is small so he will be in the team. They work it so that every boy has something to row. But he's very keen to get into the 8 which is the "big" one!

well, also the more good look to him!

Wonderful picture. I have been involved in rowings since 1978 as an oarsman, coach and referee. It is a great sport. In the States we start with the single oars or sweeps before we go to the double oars or sculls. I spent my first 20 years rowing 8's and singles. Then I rowed 4's for a few year while retiring to referee. It is a great sport for teaching discipline and team work. I consider it the ultimate team sport because everyone works together all the time.
