Commemoration Day 2010 by eleanor

Commemoration Day 2010

Every year SACS commemorate old boys who have died while serving at war. It's a ritual, rich in Anglo-Saxon heritage, with marching bands, cadets and somber music. The teacher standing next to me had tears flowing as the honour guard marched past. I wondered who he was remembering, but the steely look in his eyes as I turned to him said "Back off. This is private." I am very grateful that my association with this ceremony is one of detached interest - looking for, and finding, lines.
It sounds like a beautiful memorial and tribute to the fallen soldiers. Nicely captured.

Thank you for your quick response to my cranes comment! Their price is certainly tempting if they were in this country but you're right the postage would be all out of proportion! Thanks for your thoughtful offer.

I like the lines in the building and the lines of people.

Regarding Mussel Beach - it was shot from a tidepool in a Marine Protected Area, and the wildlife can't be removed. Mussels from Southern California are usually considered safe to eat after October barring any unusual ocean conditions. :)

Sound like a very moving ceremony.
