In my dreams

Last night I dreamt that I'd had a call from the archivist at Die Moeder Kerk, wanting to know when I was going to post the picture of the the statue of Rev Andrew Murray. As I stammered my reply he said ... "Well, you are a Bad Murray so I'm am not surprised that you haven't got round to it yet."

Well, here it is, you nasty sub-concious thought :)

Quick explanation: This is a statue of the Rev Andrew Murray, a Scottish clergyman who came out to South Africa and did lots of "good things". His descendents are known as the Good Murrays.

I, on the other hand, am descended from a Thurtell who came out to South Africa after his brother had been hanged, drawn and quartered for murdering someone. (He was the last man in England to receive that form of justice. As a result there is a wax-work in Mdme Tussauds marking his demise.) To hide the family's shame, he changed the family name to Murray - but never lost the "Bad Murray" distinction.
That's a great story Eleanor. Very cool pic to illustrate it.
