On Tuesday morning I sat in a hide at Witsieshoek Mountain Lodge in the Drakensberg, and watched two Bearded Vultures (and two ravens) come to collect 'take-aways' from the Vulture Restaurant.
Bearded Vultures are close to extinction, and there are thought to be less than 100 left in Southern Africa. There are four birds that regularly visit at Witsieshoek and I was privileged to see two of them. They are powerful, beautiful and shy birds.
