Tulip Exposed

Detail of a so-called black tulip. Actually a very deep wine colour.

I cut the stem a few days ago because it was windy outside and it wouldn't sit still to be photographed (well not the large number I wanted). After setting up tripod and lights, I found that the tulip had closed up in protest, so I had to wait for the next day until it condescended to open for me.

Stunning detail...I bought a lovely potted tulip for a gift...the next day it refused to open for the b'day...the morning after it was open early & blooming...you just can't tell when ???
