Today was a public holiday in Malta. I have three reasons for uploading this picture:
The first one is the most obvious since today we celebrated the feast of the Immaculate Conception.
The second concerns this particular statue that I came across in Naxxar. It was erected by the members of the Legion of Mary of the locality to commemorate the Legion of Mary's 100th anniversary. I spent my youth and most of my adult life in the Legion of Mary with many happy and beautiful recollections.
The third is my stand against the absurd and stupid document proposed by the European Commissioner for Equality asking EC workers to avoid the word Christmas and the name Mary! Imposing uniformity does not respect real equality and does not celebrate diversity.
In this particular picture I like the ominous clouds (sadness, doubts, discouragement...) in the background and the spiritual refuge I have always found under the protection of Our Lady who always led me to Christ.
