The covid-19 cases have risen to almost 600 today. It looks like we are not taking the pandemic seriously enough. I had planned to visit the town centre this evening for some lights and reflections but changed my mind as I knew there would be a lot of people around even if all wearing the mandatory mask. Better safe.
This upload is my first experiment in high key. I've been wanting to try it for some time especially when inspired by so many of you. I used the available lights which were diffused by the light deprived vetches surrounding baby Jesus. What do you think of the result? Does it qualify as high key? Should I have eliminated the darker base of the picture? Any comments are very welcome.
600? We are at around 130,000 per day currently but thankfully Omicron seems to be a milder disease than Delta or its predecessors. Beautiful high key image. Take care of yourself and stay safe.
@casablanca the numbers are worrying aren't they. For a population of a quarter of a million we are getting worried. Some months ago when restrictions were in place we had a couple of days when we found no new infections. Yesterday two men died aged 52 and 53. @djepie Thanks both for your comments and yes do take care and stay safe.
@elza A few years ago my club held a Low Key / High Key competition. We found lots of information on Low Key images, but found it much harder to get information or a definition on High Key. Like many styles, in the end it's a subjective judgement. For me there is too much full black and detail in your image, but it is only a personal opinion, others will judge it to be high key. You might like to have a look at one of my club member's websites. Although not all her monochrome is high key, I think the ones that are high key are obviously so. http://innakarpova.com/monochrome/ Our set subject competition for the next season is Minimalism, impossible to define, but you know it when you see it.
