Out of the many photos I took on this day, I chose just these three: my grand daughter on her dad's shoulders was not sure if it was her nannu across the road; on the other side the waiting for the Pope under the banner also across the road and finally Pope Francis as he got out of his car, a Fiat Cinquecento, and as he was about to go onto the Popemobile. In spite of his weak mobility his message was strong and tough against corruption and land speculation.
“Honesty, justice, a sense of duty and transparency are the essential pillars of a mature civil society. May your commitment to eliminate illegality and corruption be strong, like the north wind that sweeps the coasts of this country.
"May you always cultivate legality and transparency which will enable the eradication of corruption and criminality, neither of which acts openly and in broad daylight.”
He noted that the Maltese national anthem is in itself a prayer to God to protect the land, and called for Maltese people to care for the environment.
A wonderful moment for your granddaughter- I have a lot of respect for Pope Francis - I feel he made a difference when visiting Cyprus earlier this year..
