One of the houses ( now serving as a guest house) in the centre of the town away from the coastline. A typical house built during the early 1900's when Tas Sliema started to change from a small fishing village into a popular summer resort for the wealthier Valletta residents. There are a number of art nouveau houses still remaining in the inner streets.
"Tas Sliema got its name from a chapel dedicated to The Virgin Mary under the title of Star of the Sea, which served as a beacon and a reference point to the few fishermen who lived in that area. The name could thus be connected with the first words of the Hail Mary prayer, which in Maltese is "Sliem Għalik Marija". Sliem is the Maltese word meaning peace." ref https://localgovernment.gov.mt/en/lc/TasSliema/Pages/Locality/History.aspx
