Another shot from yesterday's visit to the main square in Mosta. The statues that decorate the piazza are real works of art and craftsmanship.
On the 1st November 1950, Pope Pius XII solemnly defined the Dogma of the Assumption of Our Lady Mary. That day in the Rotunda a Te Deum was sung as a thank you to God. There was a large number of people including the Prime Minister of Malta at that time Dr. Enrico Mizzi, who died shortly after on 20th December 1950.
Bishop Baron explains, "When we speak of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother’s body, we are not envisioning a journey through space, as though Mary moved up into the sky."..."Mary, who exists now in this other world, is not so much somewhere else as somehow else, and this helps to explain why we can speak of her, especially in her heavenly state, interceding, helping us, and praying for us."
