16th April 2015

This was a day of meetings for Arts Richmond (I’m on the Executive Committee) in Richmond and card counts in Twickenham. There was time between the meetings so I decided to walk back to Richmond along the tow path.

This is a view towards the restaurant boat. It is particularly poignant view as the next day the pontoon to which the boats are moored failed to rise with the tide and the restaurant boat (fifteenth century) and many others were sunk. The Teddington lifeboat crew rushed to try and save the boats but sadly they could not save them.
A beautiful picture, but what a sad story. I wonder if the boats can be raised and repaired?

The restaurant boat seemed to be upright and back in place the day after. I was surprised having seen the news report that morning. It all seemed to be drying out? Is this not the case. Lovely view.
