This is not the best of macro shots, mainly before I did not have my macro lens!

These are called Rosemary Rainbow beetles (or Rosemary Leaf beetles), a lovely name I think and they are pretty with green and red metallic stripes. They are about the size of ladybirds and seem to prefer lavender to feed on. However, a quick internet search reveals that this new invader is actually not good for our plants and their larvae can kill or at least damage rosemary and lavender plants - perhaps I should mention this to the lock keepers?
A very pretty shot. Too bad the beetles do such damage--they remind me of the Japanese beetle which is also lovely to look at but eats the leaves of many plants. I saw rose bushes last summer which had suffered greatly from their activities.
